Kirsi Nevanti
Kirsi Nevanti is a filmmaker, director/producer, known for her distinctive personal style, daring editing and sensitive camerawork. Her films have been presented at festivals such as Idfa, the Joris Ivens competition, Semaine de la Critique in Locarno and Swedish Film Days in Tokyo. Educated at the University College of Film, Radio, TV and Theatre DI (1992-1995). She is the first filmmaker in Sweden to earn an artistic practice-based doctorate in fine arts, film and media (Lund University 2017). The title of her doctoral thesis is: In Real Life (Or Elsewhere) – about creative processes and parallel realities in documentary film. She runs an independent production company and enjoys regularly working with a film team consisting of cinematographer Robert Nordström and Peter Östlund, film sound designer Jan Alvermark and editor Julian Antell. She likens the teamwork to being a conductor in an orchestra where everyone participates with their highest creative potential.
